Determined Shopper- Field Trip to the Real Salt Lake Store

I've been getting in touch with my inner sports fan lately (no one else in the fam likes sports and I don't get it). So I've always wanted a Real Salt Lake jersey but it's never hit my priority list.  Payday was yesterday and we needed to make this happen.

I got the white secondary jersey at Dick's Sporting Goods (I feel like I have to state the full company name because just "Dick's"...anyway) and I'm a lucky girl in that a kids jersey fit me. Check!  I was so excited!

I haven't been to the Real Salt Lake Team store at the stadium so I decided to "stop by." Um...driving down State there are a bunch on cones and cops and...parking $10??? There's a game today?

Sure enough,  it's the CONCACAF Gold Cup today. I am not paying for parking and all the businesses within a mile are pay only.

Maybe I'll just go home.

Nope!  I parked at Trax on 9000 S and took it to 9400 S and walked over. I'm a pretty determined girl (mom says) so we are going to make this happen!

It's a hot day.

I bought a jacket. Yep I did. Love it. I was comparing two of them and asked the female clerk which one was cuter and she gave me the weirdest look! I really am such a girl. With all the scheming and walking I think I earned it. :-) Then I walked back to the 9000 S lot to get some exercise.

Anyway, I have my jersey and a jacket that I've always wanted. Now I just need to get my tickets. Anyone wanna go next Saturday? ;-)

Love my silly, spontaneous life. Gotta find some way to get through it all!

Happy 4th!

I LOVE the 4th of July. I am such a girl, in that I have to plan my outfit ahead of time (since I have no kids to doll up). I love the patriotism and passion about our country and freedoms that are not as evident any other day.

I love the parades, the quality time with family and finally, blowing things up. How childish of me. It was a great way to end the night! ;-)

This year was a little bittersweet due to a few factors but I think I did a pretty decent job enjoying it.

Following are some highlights of the day:

My outfit, and the necklace I finished at 2:00am because dang it, I needed a red necklace.

My patriotic beverage of choice. Someday I really, really want a Jeep!

And If i can't have a Jeep I might want a camel...

Our fireworks were awesome. Yes, my brother used a torch to light his. 

Lucky Girl

I was just thinking about how lucky or more importantly how blessed I am. For as long as I can remember,  I wanted to work in the city at some point in my life. As a child I loved going downtown and the hum (NY would be a buzz, SLC is just a hum) of life at a fast pace.

For the past almost seven years I've had the chance to work downtown and in inarguably the best place ever. No battle. Seriously.  I have no idea how I would merit this great place I've been planted. I can't help but bloom and help all those around me to flourish as well.

Below are some pics of downtown that show the view that I have at work and running around on my lunch. I've seen a lot of great things. I'm one lucky girl.

Endorphin Junkie

Well, the last couple months have been interesting...my blood pressure decided to spike due to a few things.

Blood pressure meds? Not for me!  So, what to do? View it as an opportunity. I've always wanted to get into better shape so here's my excuse/motivation.

With my new work schedule I'm able to make it to the gym super early but bearable. What a blessing! So far I've made it in regularly and I'm getting addicted to it. I'm pretty stoked!

My shoes match the equipment. Oops!

Summertime Bucket List

I know, I know. My last post was the first in abour a year. How boring am I?! Well, it's time to fix that. Commence Summertime Bucket List. It's not as big and wonderful as some, I have no kids and may not post all my adventures but I need to be fun again. Ok. Maybe I'm funny, but I need to get out a bit more. Here goes:

☆Go on 5 hikes
☆Get in shape so a swimmingsuit isn't scary
☆Go to the zoo
☆Get my bike out more
☆Go to a Friday night movie at the Capitol
☆Take a short trip to Moab
☆Go all out in celebrating July 4th and 24th
☆Make at least 3 Dutch oven dinners

It's short and sweet but doable and I'm pretty excited for Summer.

Suggestions appreciated! Bring it on!

Girls Shopping Day in Park City

Yesterday was such a beautiful day. A couple friends and I decided to take a trip to Park City to partake of the premium shopping opportunities at the outlets.

It was definitely an experience that didn't disappoint.  The Lucky Brand store hooked me up with some amazing jewelry and I actually bought a dress at Rue 21. Super cute.

I also caught a bit of Park City's redneck side. See attached photo for those goodies. :-)

After a day of shopping we enjoyed some not-so-PC-exotic cuisine at the local Café Rio. I was so full after my ginormous salad.

It was a great escape from the valley and, even though we were missing one from our clan, (Heidi, we still love you) we had an amazing time.

Something New

It seems I accumulate a new hobby each year, and they're not the cheapest. This is the latest. So I know I can't run or my knee replacements will come sooner than somewhat expected (I've already had three knee surgeries). Biking it is. :) 

Going to the gym for me has never been easy. I have to get ready...then go to the gym...then work out...then come home and change back...it's far too time consuming. By the time I'm there I could have gotten a decent workout on a bike. Ok maybe a warmup. Anyway...

I'm committed. Salt Lake Century next year and Lotoja the next.

It's been 10+ years since I've ridden a bike. At least I'll look like a moron in Style. :)

I should work in marketing. In short, it's hot, it's fast (as soon as I'm fast) and it's MINE. ;)

This jersey is amazing. It has dots. And it's girly. No pink...bummer...but STILL amazing!

Pink on my shoes...for when I'm coordinated enough to get clips. Yessssss.

"Knickers." With this thing called a "chamois" in the butt to make for a cushy ride. Why don't you just pad up the seat rather than put what seems like a ginormous feminine product in the crotch??  Oh well. Something I may learn to appreciate as I ride. :) They're cute...for bike shorts.

 Oh yeah, and more PINK!

Here's the plan:
-Buy a trainer (a machine that creates resistance so you can "ride" indoors) so I can actually learn to balance and shift without the neighbors laughing.
-Buy a helmet once I am cleared for take off. You were waiting for me to mention a helmet. ;) I'm not a complete idiot.
-My car should probably be equipped to carry this awesome little thing. That will happen later, courtesy of Thule.
-Ride like crazy and make helping others get fit my new project, thus helping me get fit. :)
-Enter races. Yes. That will happen.

So excited...and a little scared. Didn't Eleanor Roosevelt say something about doing something each day that scares you? This will make for many days of fear and hopefully a big payoff. :)
